El Salvador competed in the Olympic Games for the first time at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico, from 12 to 27 October 1968. Comité Olímpico de El Salvador sent a total of 60 athletes to the Games, 52 men and 8 women, to compete in 7 sports.
